Remedial Massage
Remedial Massage provides a healing treatment that can be gentle or strong, deep or shallow to help relieve the symptoms associated with injury, musculoskeletal problems and stress. There are several specialized techniques used to locate and repair damage and to support and speed up the body’s own repair mechanisms.
Some benefits of Remedial Massage include the stimulation of blood supply allowing toxins in the muscles to be removed, calming of the peripheral nervous system to ease pain and discomfort and the toning and relaxing of muscles to improve joint mobility.
Sports Massage
Whether you are the recreational sportsperson or the professional athlete, if you are looking for that competitive edge then a sports massage is for you.
Massage can do the following:
- a pre-event massage to loosen, warm and ready those muscles for activity which will improve your performance and endurance
- a post-event massage to relieve pain and stiffness after competition.
- a regular massage can help prevent sports-related injuries that keep you from competing.
Swedish Massage
A soothing calming massage based on European and Oriental techniques and a knowledge of modern anatomy and Physiology, Swedish Massage improves circulation and relieves muscular tension. It stimulates the skin and nervous system and soothes the nerves themselves. It reduces stress, both emotionally and physically and is extremely beneficial in a regular program to help with stress management and the associated affects.
Pre & Post Natal Massage
Massage during pregnancy has a number of benefits including promotion of circulation and inducing a state of relaxation, which assists in normalising all the body systems, calming the nervous system and bringing relief from muscle tension and cramping.
Post Natal massage may help with depression, mood swings and help tone and strengthen the immune system.
Myofascial Dry Needling
Myofascial Dry Needling is a therapeutic technique involving the location of active or latent Myofascial Trigger Points in skeletal muscle and its associated fascia. Trigger Points and Myofascial Pain Syndrome (which is a so-called “Trigger Point”) can be responsible, and are indeed a very common source for prolonged pain and dysfunction. Once these trigger points are located, the therapist uses a sterile acupuncture needle to probe and de-activate each trigger point. Trigger Point Dry Needling is one of the most effective treatment options to inactivate Myofascial Trigger Points. Appointments available with Sandra.
Massage Lymphatic Drainage
The massage technique consists of light rhythmic strokes that follow the superficial path of the lymphatic vessels and also concentrate on the clusters of lymph nodes such as those in the neck and axilla. It is a light form of massage yet the results are marked and longstanding. Lymphatic drainage is excellent for those undergoing detoxification therapies or suffer from lymphatic and immune dysfunction. Appointments available with Lynne.
Hot Rock Massage
Dating back 300 years, Hot Stone massage is a variation on classic massage therapy. Heated smooth, flat stones are placed on key points on the body. The massage therapist may also hold the stones and use them to massage certain areas of the body. Benefits include increased local circulation, improved blood flow to surrounding tissues, and greater ability to transport toxins and waste products from the area. Available soon with Judith.
